Newland

The definition of Newland:

Newland is a “Concept Country”. As such, it is a country that has not been officially declared, does not have a government, and does not have citizens. It does have the potential to have all of these facets, as well as a legal system, a political system, a civil culture, and even possibly land, both real and virtual, and potentially even manufactured land on water or in space.

Because Newland is defined but not declared, and because Newland can have but does not yet have all of the above mentioned facets, Newland is an excellent vehicle for research and thought experiments. In the real world of actual countries scholarly research focuses primarily on what is, can be, and should be. Unfortunately what should be is subject to the limitations of what can be, which in turn is limited by what is. In contrast, Newland is a clean slate and as such anything is theoretically possible.

Newland is therefore an ideal location to carry out social science research. At the present time, Newland does not belong to anyone, is not controlled by anyone, and there is no one to limit or specify what kind of research should be conducted, or how it should be conducted and published. Therefore, scholars are free explore the possibilities created by a new and undeclared country in any way they choose.
